Ever since Minecraft added Recipe Book in the game, the tradition of memorising all the crafting recipes is lost in time. Even I, a somewhat experienced Minecraft player don't remember more than few dozen recipes. So it is expected that people almost forgot that some items/blocks are totally craftable. So in this post, I'll revisit those forgotten recipes that are still part of the game but people don't use them anymore.
Diorite
I'm starting the list with probably the most hated block in Minecraft. Diorite blocks can dramatically stand out in a build, thus it is not easy for new players to properly blend it in their builds. But the recipe is not forgotten because it is ugly, the crafting recipe is sort of expensive. Here is how you craft diorite
As you can see, you need cobblestone and nether quartz to craft diorite. Both are not expensive blocks on their own but to create diorite in large quantities, you will need a lot of quartz, ie, you need to go to the nether. Considering you will probably encounter a vein of Diorite way before a vein of diamonds, you'll probably have enough diorite before you find enough diamonds for a pickaxe to mine Obsidian to make a Nether Portal.
Granite
People usually burn their diorite or store in a chest and never touch it again. But that doesn't mean they're totally useless. You can use them to craft Granite.
Granite may also belong in 'ugly Minecraft blocks club' but atleast people often come up with more usage of granite than of diorite.
End Rod
End rods are naturally found at end cities, which means you have to defeat the Ender Dragon to get them. Crafting recipe also requires another item from the end islands, thus only experienced players may be familiar with the crafting recipe.
